Description
Tai Tapu Community Centre is a modern centre located at Rhodes Park and has a variety of venue spaces for hire to suit corporate events, family celebrations, community meetings and more. The venue is also fully equipped with a commercial kitchen.
Venue hire is charged per hour at the following rates:
Community Rate: Applies to non-profit groups whose activities are open to the public and directly benefit the local community. This includes local schools, faith groups, and community-focused events. The rate is not available for bookings involving commercial activities, private gain, or events connected to political parties, candidates, or campaigns, where the activity is associated with an individual or group seeking elected office or advancing a political position.
Please note, eligibility for the Community Rate is determined at the discretion of Selwyn District Council. Proof of non-profit status or community benefit may be required.
Standard Rate: Applies to all other bookings that do not qualify for the Community Rate, including private or commercial events.
Pricing takes effect 1 July 2026 and is reviewed 1 July each year. Any quotations given during this timeframe may increase in line with this.
Additional charges or requirements may apply depending on the nature of your booking.

Combined Te Waihora and Ahuriri
One of the features of Tai Tapu Community Centre, is its flexible spaces, called Te Waihora Lounge and Ahuriri Lounge, as these two rooms can open into one large, combined space.
Please note that when hiring the combined Te Waihora and Ahuriri Lounges, both rooms are charged at their individual hourly hire rates. The total hire fee is $112.30 per hour (standard rate) or $63.80 per hour (community rate).Equipment
